Delhi high court summons Red Chillies, Netflix in Sameer Wankhede case

NEW DELHI: Delhi high court on Wednesday issued summons to Shah Rukh Khan-owned Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix on a defamation suit filed by IRS officer Sameer Wankhede for allegedly tarnishing his reputation in the series “The Ba***ds of Bollywood”.Wankhede has sought Rs 2 crore in damages, to be donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital. Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav also issued notices to X Corp, Google, Meta, and RPSG Lifestyle Media, asking them to reply within seven days.Listing the matter for Oct 30, the high court declined to pass an interim injunction. Wankhede’s counsel argued the series maligns anti-drug agencies and prejudices pending cases involving Aryan Khan. The plea also cites a scene showing a character making an obscene gesture after saying “Satyamev Jayate”, alleging violation of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971.
