Stray dog attacks solo actor during street play against dog menace

KANNUR: A solo artist was bitten by a stray dog during a street play about the growing menace of stray dog attacks. P Radhakrishnan, an artist from Kandakaparambu, was attacked by the dog that climbed on the stage while he was performing the drama.He was staging the solo performance titled “Pekkalam” at Kandakaparambu Krishnapillai memorial library at 8 pm on Sunday. It was part of an awareness programme organised by the Library against the stray dog menace. While the performance was on going, a stray dog came from behind the stage and attacked the artist.It was during a scene depicting a child being attacked by a street dog and a barking sound was used as background sound. Hence, though the audience who saw the dog entering on the stage and biting the artist, they felt it was part of the drama. It was after 10 minutes completing the play, Radhakrishnan informed the organisers. He was later taken to Pariyaram government medical college hospital and sought treatment.
