Largest nationwide digital life certificate campaign for pensioners launched, camps across 300 cities

NEW DELHI: Pension disbursing banks will hold camps and visit the aged, differently-abled and sick pensioners at their homes or hospitals across 300 cities to facilitate the issue of digital life certificates (DLC). This is being done as part of an outreach campaign to be run by the department of pension and pensioners’ welfare (DoPPW) through November.The fourth nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) campaign of DoPPW from November 1 to 30 shall cover 2000 districts and sub-divisional headquarters across India. As many as 57 pensioners’ welfare associations will assist in mobilising pensioners to file DLCs and conduct camps in coordination with pension disbursing camps and the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).The campaign will be organized in collaboration with 19 pension disbursing banks, IPPB, pensioners’ welfare associations (PWAs), CGDA, department of telecommunications, Railways, UIDAI and MeitY, with the aim of ensuring outreach to every pensioner in the remotest corners of the country; the campaign targets around 2 crore pensioners. To be run via SMS, WhatsApp, state broadcasters, social media, banners and local media coverage, the campaign aims to inform the pensioners about DLC submission options.During the DLC Campaign 3.0 undertaken last year, over 1.6 crore DLCs were generated, including more than 50 lakh DLCs through face authentication technology, across 1,900 camps held in over 800 districts and cities.This year also, IPPB will conduct DLC camps in all districts through its vast network of 1.8 lakh postmen and gramin dak sewaks (GDS), offering doorstep DLC services to all categories of pensioners irrespective of their bank. IPPB staff are equipped with mobile devices enabling both fingerprint and face-based DLC generation.“The DLC Campaign 4.0 is positioned as the largest-ever outreach initiative for pensioners, targeting 2 crore DLCs, with a strong emphasis on face authentication technology, ensuring universal coverage and ease of living for pensioners across the country,” DoPPW said in a statement.
