‘Did nothing for own family’: Nitish releases video message for voters ahead of Bihar polls; takes veiled dig at Lalu
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar releases a video message for the voters ahead of assembly elections

NEW DELHI: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday released a video message for the voters ahead of assembly elections, thanking them for their support to JD(U) since 2005 and urged them to vote in large to ensure victory of NDA candidates. The JD(U) supremo also took a dig at Lalu Prasad Yadav over dynastic politics, saying that “we did nothing for own family.” In a video message, Kumar thanked the people of Bihar for supporting him and his party since 2005 and lashed out at the previous government, saying, “The situation of the first system was terrible.”

‘Being a Bihari was a matter of insult’

“My dear brothers and sisters of Bihar, you have allowed me to serve the people of Bihar since 2005. We want to tell you that the situation in which we got Bihar at that time, being a Bihari, was a matter of insult. Since then, we have served you day and night with full honesty and hard work,” the Bihar CM said in the video message. He added that his party, since coming into power worked on different issues ranging from education to health, agriculture, youth and more to improve the situation of the state.

‘We have not done anything for our family’: Nitish’s dig at Lalu

“You know that the situation of the first system was very bad. First of all, the work was done to rectify it. Along with that, education, health, roads, electricity, drinking water, agriculture, and for the youth, the situation of employment was greatly improved,” he said. He further attacked Lalu for doing nothing during his term as CM of Bihar and also hit out at him over dynastic politics. “The previous government did not do any work for women. We have now made women so strong that they are no longer dependent on anyone and can do all the work for their families and children. We want to tell you that we have developed all the classes of society from the beginning. Whether you are a Hindu, a Muslim, an upper caste, a backward, a very backward, a Dalit, a Mahadalit, we have worked for everyone. We have not done anything for our family. Now, being a Bihari is not a matter of insult, but a matter of respect,” he added.

Bihar CM urges people to vote in large numbers

The Bihar CM further said that with the support of PM Modi speed of development in the state has increased a lot. “Therefore, I request you to make the candidates of NDA victorious in the elections this time. Give us one more chance. After this, more work will be done, which will develop Bihar so much that it will be included among the top states. Therefore, on November 6 and November 11, you should reach your voting centres and vote as much as possible. Jai Hind. Jai Bihar,” he added.
