Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday (local time) made history as he became the first Muslim mayor of New York City. The Ugandan-born, Indian-origin Democrat triumphed over former governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in a record-breaking election that saw over two million New Yorkers cast ballots.
