AMD CEO Lisa Su OpenAI deal could bring $100 billion in revenue

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) CEO Lisa Su said the company’s multi-year partnership with OpenAI could generate more than $100 billion in revenue and help strengthen its position in the fast-growing AI market. Speaking during AMD’s third-quarter earnings call on November 4, Su said the collaboration with OpenAI will “significantly accelerate” AMD’s data center AI business. The agreement includes a large-scale deployment of AMD’s Instinct GPUs, with a total of 6 gigawatts of compute power.“The first gigawatt of MI450 series accelerators [is] scheduled to start coming online in the second half of 2026,” Su said adding: “The partnership establishes AMD as a core compute provider for OpenAI and underscores the strength of our hardware, software, and full-stack solutions strategy.”

OpenAI’s Master Plan for India

Both the companies will also work together on future hardware, software, and system-level roadmaps, Su added.AMD reported third-quarter revenue of $9.25 billion, a 36% increase from a year earlier and above analysts’ expectations of $8.74 billion. Earnings per share came in at $1.20, also ahead of estimates of $1.16.The company raised its forecast for the fourth quarter, expecting revenue of about $9.6 billion, compared to market estimates of $9.16 billion.Despite the strong results, AMD’s shares fell 3.7% on Tuesday to close at $250.05 and slipped another 3.19% in after-hours trading.Su said the OpenAI partnership could make AMD a key player in the AI computing race, as the company continues to expand its hardware and software offerings.
