"We strongly condemn what happened to our sister yesterday," Nadigar Sangam reacts to the YouTuber's diminishing question on Gouri G. Kishan
The South Indian Artists’ Association strongly condemns a YouTuber’s indecent question posed to actress Gouri G. Kishan. Association president Nassar highlighted the film industry’s respect for women and the need to protect their dignity. He called for strict action against individuals misusing social media platforms and posing as journalists. Measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

The incident of a YouTuber asking actress Gouri Kishan an indecent question at a press conference has caused a stir in the Tamil film industry. South Indian Artists’ Association president Nassar has strongly condemned the incident. “The film industry and journalism are inseparable cousins. The media plays a vital role in highlighting good films and artists to the public. It is the responsibility of the media to present criticism and opinions in a civilized manner. But what happened yesterday was completely the opposite and is deeply regrettable,” Nassar said in his statement.

Tamil cinema’s long-standing respect for women highlighted

He noted that the Tamil film industry has always respected and honored women. “75 years ago, women were not only actors in the Tamil film industry, but they also achieved success in various fields such as director, producer, and cinematographer. However, even in today’s environment, it remains a challenge for a woman to enter and advance in the film industry. It is the duty of all of us to protect their dignity and respect as they travel confidently in such an environment,” he said on behalf of Nadigar Sangam.

Mockery disguised as journalism draws sharp criticism

Nassar said it was very insulting that some people, under the guise of journalists, were asking questions in a mocking manner about actresses. “Yesterday’s incident is reminiscent of an indecent act committed by the same person against another actress ten years ago. This is not a personal mistake but a disgrace to the entire film industry,” he stressed.

Call for strict action against fake YouTubers posing as journalists

Nassar also pointed out that the growth of social media has created a situation where anyone can start a YouTube channel and pretend to be a journalist. “Such bad practices should be banned. It is necessary for us to come together and discuss and take appropriate action regarding these ‘weeds’ that have sprouted in the media sector. The Nadigar Sangam strongly condemns this incident that happened to Gouri G. Kishan. Necessary measures will be taken to ensure that such incidents do not happen again,” Nassar concluded his statement. Meanwhile, Gouri’s previous outing in Mollywood was ‘Sahasam’.
