‘Apologise or films may not be screened’: Pawan Kalyan says Telangana cast ‘evil eye’ on Konaseema
Komatireddy demands apology from Pawan Kalyan over ‘evil eye’ remarks

HYDERABAD: Telangana cinematography minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday said Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan should apologise for his controversial remark that Telangana has cast its “evil eye” on the Konaseema region, warning that his films may not be screened in the state if he fails to do so.The comment drew widespread condemnation from political leaders across Telangana, including BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar, TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, Congress MLA Anirudh Reddy, and BRS legislator G Jagadish Reddy, all of whom demanded an apology. The controversy stems from Pawan Kalyan’s recent claim that Telangana’s ‘evil eye’ affected development in Konaseema, sparking a strong political backlash across the state. Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Komatireddy said: “If Pawan Kalyan apologises, his movies may run for two three days in Telangana, if not they may not be screened at all. I am saying as a cinematographer minister.” He termed the remarks unacceptable and deeply hurtful to the sentiments of Telangana people. “Such comments were unfortunate even after 13 years after the formation of the Telangana state. Telangana had endured six decades of hardship, including fluorosis, lack of water, diversion of funds to Andhra region, and loss of employment opportunities. With the money that came from Hyderabad, cities like Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam were developed. After all this suffering, such remarks are uncalled for,” he said. Komatireddy added that while Pawan Kalyan is new to politics and may have entered public life with good intentions, statements belittling Telangana were unacceptable. “Film actor, his brother Chiranjeevi never made such controversial remarks,” he said.
