3 die as wedding guest runs car over them after dispute over DJ

Agra: A minor dispute over shutting of DJ music at a wedding venue turned into tragedy when a 28-year-old man stormed out and, in a fit of rage, ran his car several times over five people from the groom’s side, killing three and injuring two. The incident took place at a guest house under Ganj Dudwara police station in UP’s Kasganj around 3 am on Thursday.“There was a wedding function of a local Samajwadi Party leader. As the ceremonies were on, one of the groom’s relatives, Kaushal Yadav of Etah protested after the elders shut the DJ music as it was late,” Balveer Singh, an eyewitness, told TOI.As the dispute escalated, Kaushal stomped off. Five people outside the guest house tried to pacify him and, in a fit of rage, Kaushal rushed to his car, ignited the engine and stepped on the gas, mowing them down. He then reversed the car and ran his car over them repeatedly.The groom’s three uncles, Suresh Chandra, 55, Girish Chandra, 50, and Brijesh Singh, 42, suffered critical injuries, and were rushed to a Kasganj hospital where Brijesh died. Suresh and Girish were referred to Aligarh Medical College, where they were declared dead.Ganj Dudwara SHO Bhojraj Awasthi said, “Kaushal used to operate a cab, and he arrived at the wedding venue in the same car. The deceased were involved in agricultural activities.”DSP Sandeep Varma said, “We are yet to receive a complaint from the family.
