LUCKNOW: A 35-year-old engineer was murdered allegedly by his 46-year-old live-in partner and her two daughters—aged 17 and 14—in Lucknow’s Green City area under BBD police station limits. The accused woman, along with her two daughters, allegedly slit the throat of her partner, following a heated argument over his “inappropriate intentions” towards her elder daughter, according to the police.Police said the woman remained inside the house with the two girls for nearly 10 hours after the murder before calling up the police control room on Monday morning and confessing to the crime. A police team rushed to the spot and found the man lying in a pool of blood in the rented accommodation. An FIR under the charges of murder was registered by the engineer’s father against the woman and her two minor daughters.Police said that during initial interrogation, the woman told police that her live-in partner was “eyeing” her elder daughter for several days and even tried to molest her, which led to frequent quarrels between them.On Sunday night, the woman, with the help of her daughters, slit his throat with a kitchen knife. The weapon was recovered from the scene by the forensic team. The deceased, originally from Deoria, worked as an executive engineer with a private firm. In 2012, he began tutoring the woman’s daughters, then living near his family home in Jankipuram. The woman’s husband died in 2014, and the engineer gradually developed a relationship with her despite opposition from both families. The deceased’s father has accused the woman and her daughters of “exploiting” his son financially and misleading him.DCP East Shashank Singh confirmed that the woman has been arrested and booked for murder while her minor daughters have been detained. “The accused has confessed. The knife has been seized. Further investigation is in progress,” he said.
