UAE declares paid new year holiday for private sector employees

The announcement, made through an official X post, follows the UAE cabinet’s approved list of holidays for public and private sector employees.With New Year falling on Thursday, private sector offices are expected to reopen on Friday, January 2, although it is not clear whether Friday will be a holiday or a working day.This reflects the UAE’s ongoing focus on supporting employee well being. By providing a paid holiday and ensuring clear communication of workplace expectations, the government allows private sector staff to start 2026 on a relaxed and positive note.
