Watch: Chaos at Delhi airport as Air India delay angers passengers; staff seen asking fliers to calm down

NEW DELHI: An Air India flight delay at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday led to a heated exchange between passengers and airline staff.The incident took place at the terminal when several passengers, frustrated over the delay, confronted ground staff.Airline employees attempted to defuse tensions, with one staff member heard in video footage shared by news agency ANI, telling passengers to “speak calmly” (“aaram se baat kariye”).Air India response to the incident“We are aware of a video of agitated passengers during the delay on a flight yesterday, circulating on social media. While we regret the inconvenience caused by the delay, we urge passengers to be patient with our frontline staff who remain committed to ensuring their wellbeing and reliable operations. Our staff had kept the passengers informed of the delay and provided refreshments at the gate for their comfort. The flight, scheduled for 1645 Hrs yesterday, departed at 1847 Hrs. At Air India, the safety of our passengers and crew remains our top priority.” – Air India Spokesperson
