VADODARA: Amid simmering anger over the recent murder of a Class 10 student in Ahmedabad, a Class 8 boy was stabbed by a classmate in a primary school in Balasinor town of Mahisagar district on Thursday.The victim sustained injuries on his waist, abdomen, and shoulder, but they were not life-threatening, police said. Preliminary inquiry revealed that a quarrel over a petty issue had triggered the attack. The boy was stabbed thrice.He was rushed to a hospital for treatment, after which the hospital authorities informed the police.Mahisagar superintendent of police Jaydeepsinh Jadeja said the incident stemmed from a scuffle during the school recess. The two students had reached the classroom door at the same time and argued over who would step out first. “One of the boys punched the other during recess,” Jadeja said. “When school ended, one of them brought a knife and stabbed the other.”Police said an offence was expected to registered in the matter late night. Officials are yet to ascertain whether the accused boy had brought the knife to school or procured it later.
