Uma Bharti: Indore water deaths a 'maha-paap'; govt must apologise

BHOPAL: Days after contaminated water in Indore claimed the lives of 10 people, former MP CM Uma Bharti criticised the state govt and Indore mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava on X Friday, saying the incident has “shamed and disgraced our state, govt, and entire system”.Calling it a “maha-paap”, Bharti demanded “prayaschit” and said the govt must apologise to the affected families and ensure severe punishment for all those responsible at every level. She said a city celebrated for being ranked cleanest today stands exposed, with its “ugliness, filth and poisoned water” swallowing lives, and warned that death toll could still rise.Bharti said compensation of Rs 2 lakh cannot be the price of a life, as families remain immersed in grief for a lifetime. “Yeh Mohan Yadavji ki pariksha ki ghadi hai,” she wrote.Bharti also targeted mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, reacting to his claim that civic officials do not listen to him. “If you can’t get things done, why occupy the post, and why do you drink packaged water?”
