Bengaluru: YouTuber held for forcing minor girl into car; accused denies charges, claims she sought lift

BENGALURU: Ramanagara police have arrested a 38-year-old YouTuber from Tumakuru for allegedly forcing a 17-year-old girl into his car and trying to misbehave with her near Magadi Town, in Ramanagara, Bengaluru South district, in the early hours of Jan 1.Police said they have yet to record a detailed statement from the minor girl, who gave contradictory versions. Her family, too, made confusing replies, an investigating officer said. The accused was remanded to police custody for one day and later sent to judicial custody at Ramanagara district prison. He has been booked under multiple sections of the Pocso Act.According to the complaint filed by the girl’s father, she was walking home alone from her aunt’s house around 2am after a New Year’s Eve get-together when the YouTuber stopped his car and asked about a farmhouse party. “My daughter refused to answer. He dragged her inside and misbehaved. Another man was in the car. They drove some distance and parked. The two men consumed alcohol, and then the friend left, but the accused continued driving with my daughter. She noticed his phone in the car and used it to call her brother. We rushed to the spot and found the car rammed into a shop door. We rescued her,” he stated.Meanwhile, the YouTuber denied the charges. “I was driving back to Tumakuru after finishing the job of shooting the New Year celebrations at a farmhouse. The girl requested a lift, saying someone was waiting for her a little distance away. After getting into the car, she asked for my mobile phone and called her brother. When her father and brother reached the spot, she suddenly blamed me for forcing her inside the car and misbehaving,” he claimed.A senior officer said, “We asked the family why they let her walk alone at 2am; they gave no clear answer. Even the girl’s statements were inconsistent.”The girl’s family lodged a complaint against the YouTuber, his friend who rode with him in the car, and the farmhouse owner who hosted the party.
