Parking lot manager run over by Haryana tourists after fee dispute in Haridwar

HARIDWAR: A 55-year-old man working at a parking lot in Haridwar was allegedly run over on Saturday by two men from Haryana following a dispute over parking fees. Sahdev Kumar, a resident of Bahadrabad, Haridwar, was on duty at the exit gate of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay parking facility when the accused—Vishal Kumar and Suraj Singh, both residents of Sonipat—rammed their vehicle into him and fled the spot.“The incident occurred around 2 pm when the accused reached the exit gate and a dispute arose over parking fees. They broke the barricade and ran over the parking manager, who sustained critical injuries,” SHO City Police Station Ritesh Sah told TOI. Sahdev was initially taken to the district hospital, but as his condition deteriorated, he was referred to a specialised centre in Dehradun, where he died during treatment. The SHO said the vehicle involved has been recovered from the Bahadrabad toll plaza. “We are awaiting a formal complaint from the victim’s family to register an FIR. The accused will be arrested soon,” he said, adding that the men had come to Haridwar to drop a relative, and not much information was available yet about their backgrounds.
