Several people are feared dead after a high-speed train derailed in south Spain on Sunday. According to news agency Associated Press, the train jumped onto the track in the opposite direction and hit the oncoming train.Spain’s Guardia Civil said it could not yet confirm the casualties. However, several unconfirmed media reports said the accident in Cordoba caused deaths and injuries among the hundreds of passengers.“There are dead and wounded,” a spokesman told news agency AFP, without giving specific numbers. The El Pais newspaper, citing unidentified Guardia Civil sources, said five people were killed and several people were injured in the collision.
