NEW DELHI: India embassy along with the Indian community celebrated the Republic Day in Yemen after a gap of over 10 years.“Flying the Indian Flag High! For the first time in more than 10 years, Republic Day was celebrated in Yemen. The Indian Community joined the Embassy staff at the celebration of #RepublicDay2026 at @IndianEmbRiyadh office in Aden,” the embassy said in a post on X.It also shared pictures of the 77th Republic Day celebration.Other diplomatic missions that marked the Republic Day include those in the United States, Singapore, Japan and Sri Lanka, where the tricolour was unfurled and official ceremonies were held with the participation of the Indian diaspora and invited guests. In Washington, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio extended greetings to India, noting the strong bilateral partnership across defence, energy, critical minerals, emerging technologies and the Quad framework.In Japan, ambassador-designate Nagma M Mallick unfurled the national flag at the Indian embassy in Tokyo, followed by the national anthem and the reading of the President’s address. In Sri Lanka, high commissioner Santosh Jha hoisted the tricolour at India House in Colombo in the presence of members of the Indian diaspora and paid tributes at the Indian Peace Keeping Force memorial.
