Bad Bunny is walking into the Super Bowl with history already in his hands. Just days before he headlines the Super Bowl halftime show, the global star closed the 2026 Grammys by winning album of the year, turning the industry’s biggest night into a defining moment of his career. The timing could not be louder. From music’s highest honor to the most-watched stage in the world, Bad Bunny is carrying momentum, message, and meaning into football’s biggest night. The Grammy win did more than cap off an awards show. It reframed what the Super Bowl audience is about to witness. Bad Bunny is not just performing hits next weekend. He is arriving as an artist who just reshaped the Grammys record book, representing language, culture, and identity on two of the largest platforms in entertainment back-to-back.

A historic Grammy win fueled by emotion and purpose

When Harry Styles announced the album of the year winner, Bad Bunny looked stunned. He covered his face, cried at his seat, and took several moments before walking to the stage. Once there, he delivered most of his speech in spanish, briefly switching to English to share a message that landed with weight. “I want to dedicate this award to all the people who had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams.”He then thanked God, the Recording Academy, and those who believed in him, crediting them for giving him a career and the strength to continue. The win itself was historic. DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS became the first Spanish-language album to ever win album of the year. He beat out a crowded and high-profile field that included Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Clipse with Pusha T and Malice, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, Leon Thomas, and Tyler, The Creator.Earlier in the night, Bad Bunny also picked up awards for best música urbana album and best global music performance for “EoO.” While accepting the música urbana honor, he shifted the room with a statement about the current political climate in the United States. “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out.” He continued with a message focused on unity and humanity. “We’re not savages, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans and we are Americans,” he said. “The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them. We love our people. We love our family, and that’s the way to do it with love. Don’t forget that, please. Thank you.”Now, attention shifts to the Super Bowl. The Grammys are over and when Bad Bunny takes the halftime stage next weekend, he won’t just be performing. He’ll be arriving as the artist who just made history.
