NEW DELHI: CPM said on Sunday, “As details of Indo-US trade deal slowly emerge, it is becoming evident that BJP-led govt has made sweeping concessions to the US in the so-called interim deal, which poses a serious threat to India’s economy, agriculture, and national sovereignty.“ It reiterated its demand that “details of the deal be placed before Parliament and made public”. Govt must be compelled to “desist from signing any agreement that is harmful to the interests of Indian workers, farmers…” the party said in a statement. CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said, “The trade deal framework represents a meek surrender by Modi govt to Trump’s diktat. It is a blatant attack on India’s sovereignty, autonomy, and rights and livelihoods of our farmers.”
