NEW DELHI: Star India opener Abhishek Sharma has shared a positive fitness update after being discharged from hospital following a stomach infection ahead of the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup clash in Colombo. After registering a golden duck against the USA in the campaign opener, Abhishek missed the second game against Namibia in New Delhi due to illness.In a video shared by Punjab Kings (PBKS), pacer Arshdeep Singh is seen asking him, “How are you?”

Abhishek responds with a smile, “Daal-rice, very good, me? Good.”“Daal-rice khao, jaldi theek ho jaao!” Punjab Kings captioned the video.Abhishek has played his entire T20I career following India’s T20 World Cup triumph under Rohit Sharma in 2024. In 38 matches (37 innings), he has scored 1,297 runs at an average of 37.05 and an explosive strike rate of 194.74, including two centuries and eight fifties, with a highest score of 135. He entered the ongoing T20 World Cup as the top-ranked T20I batter in the world.Against Pakistan, Abhishek has scored 110 runs in three matches at an average of 36.66 and a strike rate of 189.65, with a best of 74.At the toss against Namibia, India captain Suryakumar Yadav had provided an update, saying, “Abhishek is still not fine; he will miss a game or two.”Abhishek was hospitalised due to a stomach infection.
