Caught copying, asked to leave classroom, student assaults professor in Karnataka college

KALABURAGI: What began as a routine internal exam at a private homoeopathy college in Kalaburagi on Friday took an unexpected turn when a student attacked a lecturer after being caught copying.Assistant professor Shivarajkumar, who was supervising the student block, spotted Shahbaz, a student, using his mobile phone during the Homeopathic Materia Medica exam. He questioned Shahbaz, took away his answer sheet, and asked him to leave the classroom. Enraged, Shahbaz assaulted him.

The college management later informed Shahbaz’s parents about his behaviour and decided not to permit him to take further examinations. However, no complaint has been filed so far by either the management or Shivarajkumar, said a staff member who did not wish to be named.
