Saudi Arabia weather alert: NCM warns of rain, strong winds and low visibility across several regions

Saudi Arabia’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued orange and yellow weather alerts across multiple regions of the Kingdom, warning residents of rainfall, strong winds and reduced visibility in several areas.According to the NCM, orange-level alerts, indicating moderate to heavy weather conditions accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, have been issued for parts of the Riyadh Region and Makkah Region.In the Riyadh Region, the warning covers Al-Hariq, Al-Kharj, Al-Dalam, Al-Muzahimiyah and Hotat Bani Tamim from 12:15 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Riyadh city and Diriyah are expected to experience similar conditions from 1:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.The NCM also issued an orange alert for areas in the Makkah Region, including Adham and Maysan, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.. Authorities warned that the weather system could bring rainfall, strong winds, reduced visibility, hail, flash floods and thunderstorms.Alongside these warnings, the NCM released yellow-level alerts for several locations across the Madinah Region, Riyadh Region, the Eastern Province and Makkah Region.In the Madinah Region, light fog was forecast for Al-Rais and Yanbu between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., with horizontal visibility expected to drop to between 3 and 5 kilometres, according to the NCM.Parts of the Riyadh Region are also expected to experience active winds. The NCM said Al-Dawadmi and Afif could see wind speeds reaching 40 to 49 km/h from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., which may lead to reduced horizontal visibility.In the Eastern Province, light rainfall is forecast for Jubail, Khobar, Dammam, Dhahran, Qatif and Ras Tanura from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., accompanied by active winds, thunderstorms and possible visibility reductions, according to the NCM.The NCM also warned that Taif in the Makkah Region could experience light rainfall from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with active winds, thunderstorms and reduced horizontal visibility expected during the period.
