NEW DELHI: An Uber driver allegedly molested a woman on a moving bike during a late-night ride in the national capital on Thursday.According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 1:28 am on March 12 when the woman booked an Uber bike ride through the ride-hailing app from Rohini Sector 15 to MP Block market in Pitampura.According to news agency ANI, the driver, whose name was displayed as “Sachin” on the app, arrived at the pickup location and the trip began as planned.The victim alleged that shortly after the ride started, the driver began behaving inappropriately and repeatedly touched her in an indecent manner. When she objected to his actions, the driver allegedly started riding the bike at high speed and applied sudden brakes, leaving her frightened and uncomfortable during the journey.As the situation escalated, the woman asked the driver to stop the bike. However, she alleged that he instead grabbed her from behind and molested her, while also threatening to kill her if she raised an alarm.The victim further claimed that the accused deviated from the route shown on the application and began heading in a different direction, which heightened her fear.Fearing for her safety, the woman started shouting loudly and threatened to jump off the moving bike. Following this, the accused allegedly stopped near Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in the F-U Block area of Pitampura, dropped her there, and fled the spot.Police said no FIR has been registered so far, but they have received the complaint and are examining the allegations.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)(With agency inputs)
