100 stray dogs poisoned in Kishtapur; village officials accused

Adulapuram Gowtham, who filed the complaint, said the police initially took no action, prompting him to submit a representation to the Director General of Police (DGP), Telangana, seeking intervention.“After the representation was submitted to the DGP, an FIR was registered. However, no post-mortem examinations of the dead animals have been conducted so far, which are crucial to establish the exact cause of death and proceed with the investigation,” he added.According to the FIR, the incident reportedly took place between March 7 and 8, when the accused — the Kishtapur sarpanch and the gram panchayat secretary — allegedly hired two individuals to administer poisonous injections to the stray dogs. The dead animals were later buried near a river in the village, the complaint stated.Animal rights activists have demanded the immediate exhumation of the carcasses, post-mortem examinations, and strict legal action against all those involved in the alleged mass killing. Authorities are yet to comment on further steps in the investigation.
