Mahindra unveils 4 new concept SUVs, launch timeline revealed: Details

Mahindra & Mahindra has pulled the covers off its future SUV strategy with the global debut of its NU_IQ platform and four concept vehicles, as part of its Vision 2027 plan. These models, showcased on Independence Day, will be compatible with versatile powertrain options. Here’s a quick look at the details. Mahindra says the production models based on the NU_IQ platform will begin rolling out in 2027, targeting both domestic and international markets.

Mahindra says that the NU_IQ platform is designed as a flexible, multi-energy architecture capable of supporting multiple powertrain options. Furthermore, it has been engineered with a flat-floor design: a first for an ICE SUV. This will allow for enhanced interior space and even enhanced boot-capacity. Besides that, these upcoming SUVs will be offering both front- and all-wheel-drive configurations.All four concepts are based on Mahindra’s latest ‘Heartcore’ design philosophy, which focuses on bold presence with functionality. Inside, the upcoming SUVs are expected to feature Mahindra’s intuitive NU_UX technology interface, backed by next-gen Integrated Domain Architecture.

Mahindra concept SUVs: Key details

Four distinct concepts made their first appearance: the Vision T, Vision S, Vision SXT, and Vision X: each representing a different family in Mahindra’s portfolio. The Vision T, essentially an evolution of the 2023 Thar.e concept, previews the next-gen Thar with a boxy, military-inspired stance, vertical grille, and rugged off-road hardware, including chunky tyres and a prominent yellow tow hook.

The Vision S, likely part of the Scorpio lineage, carries a squared-off silhouette paired with modern elements like flush door handles, L-shaped LED lighting, and roof-mounted lamps for an off-road-ready yet contemporary look.

The Vision X, on the other hand, is a sub-four-metre SUV featuring sharp geometric panels, gloss black wheel arches, and a sloping roofline with connected LED tail lamps and sleek DRLs. Lastly, the Vision SXT looks more or less similar to the Vision T, albeit with a pickup-style loading bay with space for two spare tyres, giving it an adventure-focused, multi-purpose look and form factor.
