Russia-Ukraine war: Moscow shoots down 112 drones in one day; strikes military port infrastructure in Kyiv

Russia said on Sunday that it had downed 112 Ukrainian drones over the past 24 hours. The Russian defence ministry added that the strikes also targeted port infrastructure in Ukraine being used for military purposes, Interfax news agency reported. The ministry’s statement, as reported by Reuters, comes amid ongoing military operations between the two countries. Earlier, on Thursday, Russia carried out a deadly strike on central Kyiv, killing at least 21 people, including four children, and injuring 48 others. According to Kyiv city officials, the strikes damaged European Union diplomatic offices and the British Council building. Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched 598 strike drones and decoys along with 31 missiles across the country, with Kyiv bearing the brunt of the attack. At least 33 locations across all 10 districts of the capital were hit or damaged by falling debris. Nearly 100 buildings were affected, including a shopping mall, and thousands of windows were blown out citywide.
