Bank holidays in India 2025: Are banks open or closed today? Check full list

Are banks open today? Banks across India, including major lenders like the State Bank of India (SBI), remain closed on certain RBI-mandated holidays. These closures include all Sundays, as well as the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, according to RBI.However, today, September 22, all public and private banks only in Jaipur are closed for Navratra Sthapna, marking the beginning of the Navratri festival celebrations. While not a nationwide holiday, RBI-mandated closures include all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. This week, banks will also be closed on:

  • September 23 (Tuesday): Jammu and Srinagar observe a holiday for the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.
  • September 27–28 (Saturday-Sunday): Pan-India closures for regular RBI holidays.
  • September 29–30 (Monday-Tuesday): Banks in cities like Agartala, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Imphal, Jaipur, Patna, and Ranchi will remain shut for Durga Puja celebrations, including Maha Saptami and Maha Ashtami.

While physical branches remain closed, customers can continue using ATMs, online banking, mobile apps, and digital payment platforms for fund transfers, bill payments, deposits, and loan applications. Services that require in-person visits, such as bulk cash deposits, demand drafts, or account settlements—will be unavailable on these days.Residents and businesses are advised to plan their transactions in advance to avoid inconvenience during these holidays.
