Delhi airport Terminal 3 expansion: Air India, Air India Express to shift domestic flights to T2, T1 from Oct 26 - details

NEW DELHI: Starting October 26, Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express will shift their domestic operations from Terminal 3 (T3) at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to Terminals 2 and 1, respectively, the Tata Group-owned airline announced on Friday. The shift comes amid ongoing expansion work at T3 by Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) to boost international passenger capacity. Air India clarified that its international flights, along with those of Air India Express, will continue to operate from T3.“Air India: 60 out of 180 daily domestic flights will shift to T2. Air India Express: All domestic flights will move to T1. All international flights continue to operate from T3. Passengers are advised to keep their contact details updated and check flight/terminal info via our websites, apps, or 24×7 support,” its official statement read.To avoid any possible confusion, Air India flights from Delhi T2 will be renumbered in four digits, prefixed with ‘1’ (AI1XXX).Passengers making Air India bookings for journeys on or after October 26 will be clearly notified that their flight operates from T2. Guests booking Air India Express domestic flights for travel from/to Delhi will also receive notifications to board from T1.People who booked Air India or Air India Express with connections, carrying boarding passes for their onward flights, will be provided inter-terminal transfers between T1, T2, and T3. This service applies to connections between Air India flights, Air India Express flights, and on applicable codeshare connections.“Any through-checked baggage for these guests will be seamlessly transferred airside, eliminating the need to collect and recheck baggage during terminal transfers”, the statement read. For all passengers requiring transfers between T1, T2 and T3, DIAL provides a shuttle service every 10 minutes, ensuring quick and easy connectivity between the terminals. People with reduced mobility and those requiring special assistance can also opt for a comfortable buggy ride between T2 and T3.(With ANI inputs)
