A Russian strike hit a passenger train in Ukraine’s northern Sumy region, causing casualties among passengers, regional governor Oleh Hryhorov said on Saturday.Hryhorov said the Russian attack targeted a railway station, hitting a train that was heading to Kyiv, news agency Reuters reported.He did not give a number for the casualties but posted a picture of a burning passenger carriage, adding that medics and rescuers were working at the site.Moscow has increased air strikes on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure, targeting it almost daily over the past two months.Earlier on Friday, Russia carried out its largest attack of the war against natural gas facilities run by Ukraine’s state-owned Naftogaz Group, officials said.According to Ukraine’s air force, Russia fired a total of 381 drones and 35 missiles in what officials said was an attempt to damage the Ukrainian power grid before winter and reduce public support for the three-year-old conflict.In addition, a French photojournalist was killed by a drone in eastern Ukraine on Friday.Antoni Lallican, a Paris-based photographer who won the 2024 Victor Hugo Prize for Committed Photography for his coverage of the war, was working with Ukrainian photojournalist Georgiy Ivanchenko when he was killed.
