Karwa Chauth: Woman drives to Kanpur station to break fast with loco pilot husband; rituals performed among passengers

LUCKNOW: Amid the festive bustle at Kanpur Central Railway Station, a woman dressed in traditional attire and Puja thali, drove through the chaotic evening to meet her husband, and break her Karwa Chauth fast.A video of the heartfelt scene, captured by onlookers, exploded on social media, amassing thousands of shares. The woman was identified as Maya Kori, member of the Child Welfare Committee and resident of Barra-2.Her husband Mahesh Chandra, a loco pilot, was stationed for duty on Friday night, ensuring smooth train operations alongside scores of railway staff. With no leave granted, Maya took matters into her own hands.Determined to uphold the sacred tradition, Maya arrived at the crowded platform, where Mahesh was stationed. Undeterred by the hustle of commuters and trains, she performed the Karva Chauth rituals with grace—lighting a diya, chanting prayers, and conducting aarti for her husband, who stood in his uniform. She fed him sweets to break her fast and touched his feet for blessings, a poignant moment of love amid duty.Speaking to TOI, station director Ashutosh Kumar confirmed that train operations remained unaffected, noting the personal nature of the event despite its viral spread. Meanwhile, netizens lauded Maya’s devotion, calling it a beautiful blend of tradition and resilience. “Love triumphs over modern-day challenges,” wrote one social media user.
