NEW DELHI: Comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Surrey, Canada, was attacked for the third time on Thursday as unidentified gunmen fired multiple shots at the restaurant, according to local reports.A post allegedly from an aide of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack and warned the “general public” to stay away.Videos circulating online showed multiple bullets hitting the cafe’s walls and windows. A clip reportedly shot from inside a vehicle, captured a man sticking his arm out of the window and firing at least half-a-dozen shots from a handgun.Kap’s Café was previously targeted on July 10 and August 8.Shortly after Thursday’s shooting, a post attributed to Goldy Dhillon surfaced, reportedly stating, “I, Goldy Dhillon, take responsibility for the three shootings that took place (at Kap’s Café). We have no enmity with the general public.”The post also claimed that Dhillon had called Kapil Sharma before the attack, but “he didn’t hear the ring.” “If he still doesn’t hear the ring, the next action will be conducted in Mumbai,” it added.A viral screenshot of the post showed its threatening tone, though TOI could not be independently verify its authenticity.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang had earlier claimed responsibility for the second attack as well. A widely circulated post allegedly by Goldy Dhillon read in Hindi, “Aaj jo Kapil Sharma ke Kap’s Café, Surrey mein firing hui hai, iski zimmedari Goldy Dhillon te Lawrence Bishnoi gang leti hai… next karwai jald hi Mumbai mein karenge.”(“Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi gang take responsibility for today’s firing at Kap’s Café in Surrey. The next action will soon take place in Mumbai.”)Earlier, on July 9, a shooter wearing a body camera opened fire at the café while recording the incident. Germany-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) militant Harjeet Singh Laddi later claimed responsibility for that attack. The Bishnoi gang has reportedly targeted celebrities over the years, including actor Salman Khan, with attacks on his Galaxy Apartment last year.Kap’s Café is located in a mixed-use building in Surrey’s Newton area, with retail outlets on the ground floor and residential apartments above. Police cordoned off the site while collecting evidence, even as children played nearby at a local daycare, highlighting the danger posed to families and the public.
