During a recent interview, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen reflected on his marriage to actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld and the positive effect it had on his life. Speaking to ESPN’s Marty Smith the following April, Allen said his relationship with Steinfeld helped him understand he is “more than a football player.” The couple married in May 2025, shortly after their whirlwind romance in 2023, when this little nugget was revealed.
A new perspective on life and identity
Allen acknowledged in the past that his childhood dream was just about making it to, not through, the NFL. However, Steinfeld has helped him see himself in a bigger way. He called their wedding day the biggest day of his life, even more so than winning NFL MVP or signing a $330 million contract extension. Allen called Steinfeld “the most fulfilling piece of my life” and added that she is “an unbelievable, undeniable rockstar on the professional and personal fronts.”
Balancing demanding careers together
Though both the pair enjoy high-profile careers, they have worked to help each other in their respective pursuits. To put it in simpler terms, Steinfeld has timed her schedule around being there for Allen during the NFL season, even pausing filming to be in his corner. She mentioned that his work is more regimented, while her acting career is hit or miss, and that she likes to motivate herself to slow her pace of life outside of her job. Allen, in turn, tries to celebrate her acting career off the field, showing up at the Mexican premiere of her film Sinners and Sons and calling her an “incredible actress.”
A journey of personal growth and shared values
Josh Allen’s connection with Hailee Steinfeld has influenced him both on and off the field. As he continues to explore life beyond football, he knows he has someone who understands him and can grow alongside him. Through this partnership, he has learnt the importance of shared experience and synergy in life, specifically how both need to assert individual freedom while balancing the relationship. Also Read: Matthew Stafford’s wife Kelly’s heartfelt message for Hailee Steinfeld after Josh Allen’s rare confessionAllen credits Steinfeld for helping him accept the duality of his life, which makes him a fierce competitor and what makes him human, and that balance has made him a better player and also a better person. Individually, they encourage each other to be the best each can be, which goes to show that even in high-stress careers where they are not easy to come by, love and support can yield a successful result.
