Jaya Bachchan says grandson Agastya Nanda won't follow the herd, as the trailer of 'Ikkis' drops: 'Neither of his parents are actors'

Amitabh Bachchan‘s grandson Agastya Nanda made his debut with Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’. That was on OTT though and starred Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja and Dot along with him. However, Agastya is now set to make his theatrical debut with ‘Ikkis’. The recently launched trailer displays that he’s essaying the role of Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal, one of India’s youngest war heroes, in the film. The film sees Akshay Kumar‘s niece Simar Bhatia make her debut opposite Agastya. Just as the trailer drops, Jaya Bachchan is a proud grandmom. The ‘Abhimaan’ actress was quoted saying by Bollywood Hungama, “Luckily, Agastya is a fast learner. Neither of his parents are actors, so he’s leaning on his grandparents and his Maamu (Uncle) Abhishek Bachchan for guidance. You know me — I wouldn’t praise anyone, least of all my own children or grandchildren. But Agastya is special. That child is determined to forge his own path. Just like I once did. Like me, he won’t follow the herd.”

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan also penned a note on social media as he shared the trailer. Big B wrote, “Agastya ! I held you in my hands as soon as you were born .. few months later, I held you again in my hands and your soft fingers reached out to play with my beard ..TODAY you play in Theatres all over the World…You are SPECIAL .. all my prayers and blessings to you .. may you ever bring glory to your work and the greatest PRIDE for the family ❤️❤️🙏”Directed by Sriram Raghavan, known for gripping thrillers like ‘Ek Haseena Thi’, ‘Badlapur’, and ‘Andhadhun’, ‘Ikkis’ tells the story of a soldier whose courage and humanity defined the 1971 war. The trailer promises an emotional and nuanced portrayal of patriotism — something that has always been a hallmark of Raghavan’s storytelling. The film also stars Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat, with Agastya leading the narrative as the young officer whose bravery continues to inspire generations.
