Hemwanti Devi Death News: Pankaj Tripathi’s mother Hemwanti Devi passes away at 89; actor was ‘by her side during final moments’ |



Hemwanti Devi, the mother of Bollywood actor, Pankaj Tripathi, passed away on Friday, October 31, in Belsand, in the Gopalganj district of Bihar. She was 89. According to a statement from the actor’s family, she breathed her last after a brief ailment.

Tripathi family’s statement

“We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Shri Pankaj Tripathi’s beloved mother, Smt Hemwanti Devi, who left for her heavenly abode. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loved ones. Pankaj Tripathi was by her side during her final moments,” the statement added.

Final rites held on Saturday

Her final rites were carried out on Saturday, November 1, in Belsand in the presence of close family members, relatives, and friends. Mourning the loss of his dear mother, the actor and his family has urged fans, media and well-wishers to respect their privacy.

Pankaj on taking time off after father’s demise

Pankaj’s mother’s demise comes just 2 years after his father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari passed away at the age of 99 in 2023. Following his father’s demise, the actor, known for his role in ‘Criminal Justice’, decided to take a step back from work and focus on himself. Opening up about the same to The Hollywood Reporter India Tripathi said, “After my father’s demise, I went on an introspective journey. I did not sign a film for a year, and I didn’t announce that I was taking a break.”He added, “I took time off to work on myself and heal, physically and mentally.”Pankaj Tripathi was recently seen in the fourth season of ‘Criminal Justice’, and ‘Metro…In Dino’.
