'Extra marks for PM event': Fake notice draws FIR

DEHRADUN: A case has been registered against unidentified individuals for allegedly circulating a fake notice on the purported letterhead of a private university in Dehradun. The notice stated that the varsity would award extra internal marks to students attending PM Narendra Modi’s event at the Forest Research Institute on Sunday, reports Kalyan Das. The fake circular, shared widely on social media, drew sharp criticism from the leader of opposition in the state assembly accusing the university of politicising education. Varsity registrar Subhashish Goswami lodged a complaint on Saturday night, following which a case was registered under BNS section 336(2) (forgery) and relevant sections of the IT Act.
