J&K police sweep valley in 50-location push against terror networks

SRINAGAR: A sweeping security push that has gripped Kashmir valley for three days intensified Monday, with J&K police carrying out 50 coordinated searches across several districts and arresting more than 60 people while seeking cancellation of bail granted in multiple UAPA cases for allegedly violating court-imposed conditions.In Baramulla, police searched 16 properties allegedly tied to Kashmiris currently residing in PoK and detained 10 people under preventive provisions for allegedly aiding unlawful activity. Six properties belonging to UAPA-accused people now out on bail were examined.Police said five alleged “over ground workers” — civilian supporters accused of providing shelter, logistics or information to terrorists — were detained. Eleven mobile phone SIM vendors were inspected for compliance with subscriber verification rules. The district also saw 32 simultaneous search operations.In Sopore district, authorities said 11 UAPA-accused people had breached their bail conditions. Police said sustained monitoring of their post-bail activities confirmed the violations. Anantnag police began legal proceedings to cancel bail for nine UAPA-accused people after reviews allegedly showed they had engaged in activity deemed harmful to public safety and security.Shopian police filed 13 bail-cancellation applications in UAPA cases, while Kulgam police launched a crackdown across many locations targeting alleged OGWs, sympathisers, and relatives of killed and active terrorists. Eight relatives of Kashmiris allegedly operating from Pakistan were arrested under preventive laws and sent to jail.In Ganderbal, searches at homes of people allegedly operating from Pakistan and PoK led to preventive detention of 39. DGP Nalin Prabhat directed officers to intensify action against antinational elements.
