A car exploded on Tuesday near the Kacheri area in Islamabad, injuring at least 21 people, according to a report by ARY News. The vehicle caught fire following the blast and was quickly engulfed in flames, police said.Emergency services and a large contingent of law-enforcement personnel rushed to the scene, and the injured were transported to a nearby hospital, where several remain in critical condition, hospital sources told media. Police also reported that parked vehicles and motorcycles close to the site were damaged by the explosion and ensuing fire.The site was subsequently sealed off by authorities who launched a probe to determine the cause of the blast. Both the inspector-general of Islamabad police and the chief commissioner visited the location and received briefings on the ongoing investigation.No official attribution or claim of responsibility has been announced so far.
