Told to move car, they came back to kill: UP woman dies after drunk duo plough into family; 2 others critical

BIJNOR: A woman died and two others suffered serious injuries as two men allegedly ran their car over members of a family minutes after being told not to park their vehicle in front of the house and drink. The two accused were arrested on Wednesday, said police. The incident happened on Tuesday night at Mustafabad village under Shivala Kala police station of Bijnor district.As the boisterous youths parked their car, started drinking and uttered cuss words, a member of the family, Ankit Kumar, 25, came out of the house and confronted them and asked them to go away. An altercation ensued between the two sides as other family members also came out of the house.The ‘drunk men’ scooted off, only to return a while later. Their speeding car darted towards the family members who had gathered outside, and the vehicle ploughed through them. While the male members managed to jump out of the way, three women — Maya Devi, 50, Kela Devi, 45, and another — came under the wheels.They were taken to the nearby primary health centre and later referred to a private hospital as they suffered serious injuries. A woman, Maya Devi, succumbed to her injuries, while the other two are in critical condition.Chandpur CO Desh Deepak Kumar said a case was registered on Tuesday night against the accused under sections 115(2), 352, 351(2), 109 and 117(2) of BNS and section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST Act. The accused, Prashant Tomar and Rohit Rohit (in their early 20s), have been arrested and the car was seized. Additional BNS charges are being included in the FIR after the woman died, said DSP Kumar.
