FBI director Kash Patel is facing growing criticism over claims he misused government resources for his girlfriend Alexis Wilkins and her drunk friend. The row intensified after gun control activist David Hogg pointed out how strict bureau rules used to be.David’s father, Kevin Hogg, served as an FBI agent. In a post on X, David said: “When my dad was in the FBI and had his bureau car, he wouldn’t even drop my sister and I off at school or stop for groceries because the rules were so strict about personal use. Hard to believe how much has changed now that a podcaster is running the FBI.”His comment comes as Patel is already under pressure following reports that he ordered agents to act as chauffeurs for a friend of his girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins. MS NOW reported that Wilkins asked members of her security detail at least twice to drive an allegedly intoxicated, drunk friend home after a night out in Nashville. According to three sources cited by the outlet, the agents refused and Patel then rang the lead officer and shouted at him to do it.The FBI has denied the entire account. Spokesperson Ben Williamson told MS NOW, “This is made up and did not happen.”Even so, the allegations have intensified concerns among current and former agents who say Patel has routinely used FBI resources for personal convenience and not for official duty. Last month Patel was criticised for assigning SWAT agents to Wilkins. The New York Times also reported that SWAT personnel had been pulled from normal duties several times in recent months in order to protect Wilkins. Providing full-time protection to the partner of a senior FBI official is highly unusual. Furthermore, in November, reports from The Daily Beast said Patel took a 60-million-dollar FBI jet to Pennsylvania, where Wilkins was performing the national anthem at a wrestling event. Earlier in the year, CBS News reported that Patel used a bureau jet for two round trips between Washington and New York in a single weekend, flying to an FBI hockey charity event and then returning the next night to watch the New York Islanders in a luxury box.
