Indian equity benchmarks, Nifty50 and BSE Sensex, continued their losing streak on Wednesday, as investors turned cautious amid escalating geopolitical tensions and renewed worries over possible tariff increases by the United States.The decline was compounded by continued selling from foreign investors. At 12:21 PM, Nifty50 was trading at 26,101.25, down 77 points or 0.30%. BSE Sensex was at 84,806.54, down 257 points or 0.30%. “Rising geopolitical tensions and fresh tariff-related concerns have triggered profit-booking at higher levels, keeping risk appetite in check. As a result, the market is expected to remain largely range-bound, with stock-specific and sector-led moves dominating trade rather than a broad-based directional trend,” Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth tech firm, said.Asian markets were mixed, with South Korea’s Kospi and China’s SSE Composite trading higher, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were lower. US equities closed higher on Tuesday. In commodities, Brent crude slipped 0.87 per cent to $60.17 a barrel.Foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 107.63 crore on Tuesday, as per exchange data.
