Sangli bank lockers cleaned out

Thieves allegedly broke into 22 lockers at Sangli District Central Cooperative Bank’s Zare branch in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur and decamped with ornaments kept in safety lockers, police said. The theft was discovered when the bank opened Thursday. “Thieves cut the bars of a window using a gas cutter. The locks were broken using a gas cutter. They cut the alarm system and stole the digital video recorder of CCTV cameras,” said Atpadi police station inspector Vinay Bahir. Bank officials said 7kg gold and 20kg silver were stolen.
