UP moves to attach assets of doctor accused of sexual exploitation, forced conversions

LUCKNOW: Police have initiated attachment proceedings against absconding KGMU resident doctor Rameezuddin, accused of sexual exploitation, forced religious conversion and miscarriage by two women colleagues. Investigations have indicated he may have targeted more women, particularly those from the medical fraternity. Notices for attachment were pasted on Wednesday at three properties linked to him – a flat in Lucknow’s Hussainabad, his ancestral home in UP’s Pilibhit district, and another house in Khatima, Uttarakhand. Citing inputs gathered during examination of two survivors, police said Rameezuddin may have trapped more women and is strongly believed to have forcibly converted a third woman doctor. Senior police officers said they are verifying technical and documentary evidence related to the third woman, including call records, digital communication, travel details and academic links with the accused. Investigators are trying to trace this third woman to record her version. Sources said the woman in question is also a doctor and is believed to have been in close contact with Rameezuddin for a considerable period. Police teams from Lucknow are conducting raids in Uttarakhand, Shahjahanpur (UP), Noida and Delhi to trace the accused doctor. If he does not surrender within a month, his properties will be attached, police said.
