NOIDA: A man accused of attempting to snatch a gold chain from a senior citizen inside La Residentia society in Greater Noida West was arrested following a brief gunfight during a late-night vehicle check on Saturday. The accused, Rahul Yadav, allegedly entered the condominium wearing a helmet and followed the elderly woman into the lobby of Tower B1. He was later taken to a hospital.A country-made pistol, one live cartridge, one spent cartridge and a motorcycle without a number plate were recovered from his possession. Police said the motorcycle had been stolen earlier this year from the Bisrakh area.Investigators confirmed that Yadav is a resident of Hathras district and was currently staying in East Delhi. During questioning, he allegedly confessed to his involvement in the attempted chain snatching at La Residentia society.A case has been registered at Bisrakh police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. sections 304(2) (snatching) and 62 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment).
