'I have enough skill': Man who got laid off in Canada replies to 'go back to India' jibe on TikTok

An Indian-origin man in Canada, Gurvinder Singh, said as he announced on his social media that he was laid off from his job, he received a spate of hate comments asking him to look for jobs either at Tim Hortons or go back to Canada. “I am not going anywhere,” the person said in a follow-up video and added that he has enough skills to look for another job in Canada in his field — and not Tim Hortons. “Hey guys, my name is Gurvinder Singh. I got laid off this Monday and posted a video on TikTok about that,” Singh said elaborating on what comments he received after he made the announcement. Singh said many people asked him whether he got any severance pay or employment insurance. He informed that he got one week of severance pay and applied for his insurance. “One more thing I’ve seen a lot in the comments is that people sharing their negative thoughts or comments whether I should be working at Tim Hortons or maybe go back to India. Official company statements emphasize that more than 95% of employees are hired locally,
