'Pakistan can now achieve its purpose': Asim Munir's foreboding message for world; what does he mean

Asim Munir made a cryptic comment regarding the “purpose” of Pakistan’s creation saying that the country was moving “rapidly towards that destination.” In an interaction with the The International News, the army chief said that the nation was created in the name of “Islam”, further adding that it knew how to deal with “terrorists” and “was doing so effectively.”“Pakistan has been bestowed with a historic opportunity by Almighty Allah to achieve the noble purpose for which it was created. The country is moving rapidly towards that destination,” Pakistani media outlet cited Munir saying.“Pakistan was created in the name of Islam and today it enjoys a special status and importance among Islamic countries,” the news report quoted the field marshal saying.Munir said Pakistan’s global stature and economic position had strengthened markedly, adding that he was confident the country’s growing significance would gain broader recognition in the years ahead. Moreover, Pakistan is one of the countries invited by the US to join the Gaza “Board of Peace”.Pakistan is the only nuclear-armed nation with a Muslim-majority population and possesses a strong, battle-hardened military. It has fought three wars with its rival India, along with a short conflict earlier this year, and has for decades confronted insurgencies in its far-flung regions. The country is also engaged in ongoing operations against Islamist militants it says are based across the border in Afghanistan.
