Twitch streamer Aspen Kartier arrested on animal cruelty charge after viral dog video

Twitch streamer and rapper Aspen Kartier, whose real name is Aspen Easterling, has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after a disturbing video involving her dog spread widely online. The 19-year-old was taken into custody on Friday night and booked into the DeKalb County Jail, according to the Brookhaven Police Department. Authorities say they received several complaints after the video, which appeared to show Aspen handling her puppy roughly during a livestream, began circulating across social media platforms. The clip quickly sparked outrage among viewers and animal welfare advocates, leading to calls for immediate action.Following the public response, police launched an investigation and gathered enough evidence to obtain both a search warrant for Aspen’s residence and an arrest warrant. Officers reportedly arrested her around 9:30 p.m. during the operation. The case also drew attention from Twitch, which banned Aspen from the platform until late March as the investigation continues. Despite the backlash and legal trouble, Aspen has denied the allegations, insisting that her dog was never harmed and is in good condition.

Viral twitch clip leads to arrest and animal cruelty investigation

According to authorities, the dog seen in the video is a three-month-old Maltipoo puppy. When officers searched Aspen’s residence, the puppy was found inside the home and “appeared to be in good health.” DeKalb County Animal Control also responded to the scene and took custody of the dog as a precaution. Officials have not released further details about the condition of the puppy or whether additional charges could be filed, noting that the investigation is still ongoing. The viral video, which shows the puppy being grabbed during a livestream, played a major role in bringing the case to light. Viewers who watched the clip described it as upsetting, and many reported it to authorities and animal protection groups. While some online users demanded strict punishment, others urged people to wait for the legal process to play out before reaching conclusions.Aspen has publicly denied abusing her dog, saying the video was taken out of context and that her pet is safe. However, law enforcement officials say the number of complaints and the evidence collected were enough to move forward with the arrest. At this stage, no trial date has been announced, and Aspen has not entered a plea. The case highlights how quickly online content can have real-world consequences, especially when it involves allegations of harm. As the investigation continues, authorities will determine whether the evidence supports the animal cruelty charge. Until then, the dog remains in the care of animal control, and Aspen Kartier’s future on Twitch and other platforms remains uncertain.
