On way to exams, class 8 girl gangraped by 4 in Madhya Pradesh; 'forced to consume alcohol'

BHOPAL: On her way for school exams, a class 8 student was gangraped by four men in Mauganj district on Thursday. The accused dragged the girl to forest and allegedly administered an intoxicant before raping her. The girl was left unconscious and was found by kin in the evening of the same day. On Friday morning, after gaining consciousness the girl narrated her ordeal to police who registered an FIR and initially arrested two accused and remaining two were arrested late in the evening.“Two accused identified as Mintu alias Betu Jaiswal, 24, and Ravinandan, 22, were arrested initially,” SP Mauganj Dilip Soni told TOI.Later in the evening, two remaining accused, Lala alias Neeraj Jaiswal, 21, and Subhash Jaiswal alias Mithun, 23, were arrested.SP Soni said, “The girl was forcefully fed alcohol, and due to excess intake of alcohol she lost consciousness. It was on Friday morning that she gained consciousness and narrated her ordeal.”“She is out of danger and is completely safe now,” Soni said. Police said that the girl was going to sit in a pre-board examination when she was apprehended by a group of youths. They took her to a nearby jungle and there they forcefully gave her alcohol and took turns to rape her, police said. The accused escaped after leaving the girl there, police added.When the girl did not return until late in the evening, kin started searching for her and found her in a semi-conscious state in the nearby jungle. She was rushed to the nearby govt hospital. Police also arrived on Thursday night; however, things were not clear as she was not in a condition to say anything, police said. It was at around 10 am on Friday that the girl narrated her ordeal before the senior officials. Taking prompt action, initially police arrested two accused, while the remaining two were arrested late in the evening, police added.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
