India’s 14-year-old cricket prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will not appear for the CBSE Class 10 board exams this year. The young star, who recently impressed the world with his batting in the Under-19 World Cup, has decided to skip the exams because of his packed cricket schedule, which includes training camps and tournaments.Vaibhav, who lives in Tajpur, Bihar, studies at Modesty School Tajpur. His exam form had already been filled, his admit card issued, and his exam centre fixed.

However, after discussions between the school and his father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, it was decided that he would not take the exams this year. His constant travel and cricket commitments kept him away from school and home, which affected his exam preparation. The young batter has been making headlines for his record-breaking performances. He smashed 175 runs in the Under-19 World Cup final against England, hit 30 sixes in the tournament, and became the youngest player to score a List-A century. He has also set records in domestic cricket and the IPL, becoming the youngest IPL centurion and breaking several batting milestones.Despite his incredible talent, Vaibhav cannot play for India’s senior team yet due to the ICC’s minimum age rule, which requires players to be at least 15. At the same time, the BCCI’s “One-Tournament” rule means he cannot play in future U19 World Cups again. For now, the “Sooryavanshi Storm” is limited to domestic and franchise cricket, but once he turns 15 later in 2026, many believe it’s only a matter of time before he debuts for India’s senior team.
