24-year-old rams car into family over parking dispute in Tamil Nadu; 1 killed, 3 injured including 6-month-old baby

KRISHNAGIRI: An assistant labour inspector died after a youth allegedly drove a car into him and three members of his family following a dispute over two-wheelers parked in front of his house on Sunday night.The deceased has been identified as K. Sivamoorthy, 54, of Annai Arvind Nagar near the Housing Board residential area in Hosur city.According to the Hosur police, the incident occurred when a youth driving a car repeatedly honked after seeing two-wheelers parked in front of Sivamoorthy’s house. Sivamoorthy, his son Kirubakaran (35), Kirubakaran’s wife Amsaveni and their 6-month-old child came out of the house.When they tried to take the two-wheeler, an argument broke out between the youth and Sivamoorthy’s family. Police said the youth picked up a stick lying on the ground and tried to attack Sivamoorthy and his family, leading to a serious dispute.At one point, the youth allegedly drove his car into Sivamoorthy, Kirubakaran, Amsaveni and the 6-month-old baby. “Sivamoorthy, Kirubakaran and Amsaveni were seriously injured, while the baby suffered minor injuries,” said the officer.Neighbours rescued the injured and sent them to the Hosur Government Hospital. Sivamoorthy died on the way, police said. Hosur police visited the area and conducted an investigation.At the end of the inquiry, police arrested Aditya (24), son of Srinivasan, from the Kumbarappettai area of Hosur, for hitting and killing Sivamoorthy with his car. Police said Aditya’s father, Srinivasan, was the DMK’s Krishnagiri West District Deputy Secretary. Police said Aditya had two friends S Rithik Kumar, 20 of Thinnur, and S Harish, 19, of Achettipalli in the car at the time and they arrested them.The accused were sent to Salem central prison under judicial custody on Monday.A case was registered and further inquiry is on.
